Chapter Y - “Our
Enthusiasm is Contagious”!!!
Welcome
to our Heart of Tennessee Wings Web Site. It is our pleasure to have you
visit and learn more about us, our activities and our members. This page is
devoted to telling you about us, however more detail on our past activities
(and we are one of the most active Chapters within the Tennessee District),
is available on this site under the NEWSLETTER,
EVENTS and
HISTORY tabs.
The Goldwing Road Rider Association, ”GWRRA”, is the world’s
largest single-marquee social organization for owners and riders of Honda
Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles. GWRRA has grown to more than 80,000 U.S.,
Canadian and international members in 53 foreign countries. There are over
800 active Chapters, managed by volunteer leaders working with members to
foster safe, enjoyable riding while also working to improve the public image
of motorcycling. GWRRA is a family oriented, not-for-profit, non-religious,
non-political association comprised of owners of Honda Gold Wing and
Valkyrie Motorcycles as well as non-Gold Wing owners, our associate
members. There are many Regions, Districts and local Chapters that are
involved with a multitude of activities supporting the motto of the
association “Friends for Fun,
Safety and Knowledge”.
Located in Murfreesboro - approximately 30 miles southeast of
Nashville – in the lush, rolling hills of middle Tennessee, the Heart of
Tennessee Wings Chapter has over 100 members from all walks of life. Our
Chapter Gathering is on the third Saturday of each month at Sloan’s Motor
Cycle & ATV Super Center, 2233 N.W. Broad Street in Murfreesboro. At 7:45
a.m. we begin serving pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice for a small
donation, which goes to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (Ride for Kids)
and
St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Sloan’s Motorcycles donates all
of the food items, we serve, and then we donate every penny we take in. We
are one of the few Chapters in Tennessee that is supported by and meets in a
motorcycle environment, prepares you a great breakfast, and entertains you
with a short informative gathering at 9:00 a.m. Afterward, weather
permitting, we RIDE!!! We routinely have a group ride already planned, or
someone will suggest a place to ride and eat lunch, and we are eagerly on
our way. Yep, as you know….Goldwing riders LOVE to eat and ride, or to ride
and eat….your choice. And boy, can we tell you some of the BEST places to
eat! We welcome all visitors to our monthly gathering and rides.
In addition, please join us for a
Weekly Dinner Ride on Thursdays. We
meet at Sloan’s Cycles at 5:45 p.m., depart at 6:00 p.m. to a pre-arranged
eatery (usually within an hours ride). It’s a good opportunity to have good
fun, eat good food, and enjoy great friends. If you choose not to ride your
bike for whatever reason, join us anyway in your vehicle. And, if it is
raining, just come in your car.
Our “Retreads” group is made up of retired members, or members who can get
away mid-week for a ride. This group meets at Hardee’s (Hwy 96 in
front of Sam's Club)
in Murfreesboro at 8:45 for breakfast on the first and third Wednesday of
each month. The group will normally have breakfast and then take a ride to
some local point of interest, or just ride the back-roads for pure
enjoyment. This satisfies the need to ride for those members who may be
unable to participate in some of our weekend events or rides.
The “GWRRA” has some of the finest people that you will ever
meet. We have ridden all over the United States, and have made new friends
everywhere we have been. The closeness and dedication that the members have
toward each other and the organization, give you a feeling of an extended
family. We invite you to attend our next gathering or a dinner ride, so that
we may meet you and introduce you to our many fine folks. Throughout the
year, there are many rallies, fun days, picnics, and activities that you can
enjoy locally or across the country, if you desire. The fun, food, and
fellowship are there whenever you have the opportunity to take advantage of
them. Bring your spouse, friend, or anyone else no matter what kind of
motorcycle they ride. We promise that you will enjoy the experience! So,
c’mon along, we’re all about RIDING MOTORCYCLES and havin’ good clean FUN!
Please feel free to call us at anytime, if we may be of assistance to you,
Be Safe – Enjoy Life
