After a wonderful trip of twenty days and over fifty-three hundred miles
Delores and I are back,
and I am enjoying the riding time with the Retreads
on Wednesday. I want to thank Max and the other participants who stepped
up and coordinated the Retreads Rides while I was gone.
I got back on Tuesday night and was able to join the Retreads for a great
day of riding on Wednesday. Max had a ride planned to Monteagle and
Larry’s Army/ Navy Surplus Store. Everyone seemed to enjoy shopping at
Larry’s; some of us bought back packs and jackets, others just browsed and
made note of the inventory for future purchases.
After shopping at Larry’s we rode to the Smoke House Restaurant for a
very good lunch and a lot of fun-filled conversation.
Leaving Monteagle we rode Highway 41A through Cowan, Winchester
and Tullahoma to Highway 269. This is a great scenic back road that
carried us through Normandy, Wartrace, Bellbuckle, Christiana and
Crescent. At Crescent we took Armstrong Valley Road and Highway 99 back
into Murfreesboro. Arriving back in Murfreesboro brought an end to
another day of riding with a great group of friends,
THE RETREADS.
As I have said many times before, “You don’t have to be retired to ride
with the Retreads.” Come and join us on any first or third Wednesday at
Hardees on Old Fort Parkway. We meet at 8:45 AM and leave at 9:00 AM.
If you want to eat breakfast there, as many of us do, just come a little earlier.
Hope to see you on the next
ride.
